If a girl says that you're mean or you hurt her feelings, what does she mean?

There was this girl that I like. She tried to give me something once and I saw that it was nothing special, so I threw it. She called me mean and that I hurt her feelings. How do I know she was joking? She wasn't angry with me or anything, so I don't know.

dude anything a girl gives you is something special.one time a girl gave me her shoe lace cause I don't no why but all she did was rap it on my neck.

in two weeks I forgot it was in my back pack I pulled it out and she saw me holding it and said "wow now that's love" so remember even if its completly pointless keep it even unless it is like trash rapper or something.

she means exactly that. think about it, it was kinda mean of you to throw it. it shows that you are being a jerk. try being nicer :)

@Update: You could just come out and say what it was instead of generalizing. Even if the item was truly mostly valueless, then tossing can still be a very minor form of rejection, even if she just sees you as a friend. It might be enough for her to just say, "Ouch" and just move on. Just be nicer in the future, and you'll be fine. At least try to get *some* use out of the item first, though. Even a token gift tossed in the trash can be a minor slight.
