Guys, did he lose interest?

I (27F) have never talked to a guy (31M) before, so any input is appreciated. We met through a YouTube channel he was formerly on and he asked for my number. We live 8 hours away from each other and supposed to meet next weekend. I’m driving 4 hours, he’s driving 7 hours.

When we started talking one month ago, he was very flirty, sexual, complimentary and chasing me. Two weeks ago, he started to get dry and he said it’s because he had to work long hours in the office instead of working from home. He tried to reassure me that even though he’s working, that my messages brighten his day and he’s thinking about me. Last week was pretty dry too, but he called me twice saying he wanted to hear my voice. On Sunday, I missed a call from him and when I called back, he said he called me on accident. He didn’t seem that interested in talking and I even asked if I was bothering him. He said no.

We do talk everyday, but it’s super short now and it’s mainly him checking in on me asking how I’m doing or feeling. I asked him if he still wants to meet next weekend and he said hell yeah. I just don’t think he likes me anymore and I haven’t told him how I felt, but I don’t want to drive 4 hours to meet someone that isn’t interested. Is he not interested? Should I cancel the meet up?

I think he is probably still interested, it's just that if what he says about being busy is true, then it has probably also drained some of the life out of him. I know the feeling he's going through. There were times where I was really excited about a girl I got to know but as I was swamped with work or at least a hectic schedule it just kind of killed my mood a bit, and I think that's all he's going through.

He told you your messages brighten his day and he has actually called you wanting to hear your voice, so I think that counts for something. He obviously wants to keep a connection going. I imagine that once you two really meet he'll probably be in a better mood.

It doesn't sound like he lost interest, but you need to be communicating this stuff to him. If you're going to drive 4 hours, you need to know that he actually wants you to do that. I think that's a reasonable ask.
