Why leave someone on delivered instead of on read if your ghosting them?

If I plan on getting back to someone, I leave them on delivered for 2 reasons:


1. So I see that I have an unread message, to remind me I have messages to respond to, so I don’t lose track of my unread messages.


2. If I’ve read a message and they know that I’ve read their message, I feel obligated to respond promptly, to avoid coming off as rude. (Even if I originally intended to respond to them eventually anyway.)


If I’m ghosting them though, I may not look at any of their messages and I would not feel the need to check what’s the last thing they’ve sent. Why stay up-to-date with someone that you don’t want to interact with anymore?


I only ghost people who are rude or have bad manners though.


For everyone else, I eventually get back to them.

I got hacked few months ago and got locked out of my FB for 2 weeks everyone was messaging me wondering why I never answered , try another platform or way. maybe it's this?
