Why would a guy blatantly stare at a girl but never talk to her?

There was this guy last year who was in one of my classes and also lived in the hall across from mine in the dorms. I would see him everywhere and he would always stare at me. Like I mean if he was in a conversation with someone or telling a group of people a story, he would stop talking to them and watch me walk by. He looked at me like he was just in awe..like I was the prettiest girl he had ever seen. I just don't understand why he never talked to me, and I know for a fact that he didn't have a girlfriend. I'd just really like a guys opinion on this.

Also, in class he sat like 3 rows in front of me and would turn around to stare at me. He would do this every class...so much that his friend that he sat with started to notice...

He wants you but doesn't know to approach you, he probably doesn't notice he's staring as long as he is, cause sometimes my friends have to shake me to get my attention when I'm staring at a hot guy

That's true. He may not realize that you know that he's staring. Guys aren't as aware socially as girls are. It's shocking to me how many girls know that guys are staring at them on this website. You girls are so aware of that stuff. It's amazing to hear you discuss those things. I never really even think about that stuff but I have had girls stare at me too but I never really thought about it or even discussed it.

I just found it strange that he would stare at me every day all year and never say hi...and that he actually took the effort to turn around in class and would stare at me until I would look over at him and catch him staring lol

And it was ridiculous! Like at first I was like "Ooh he thinks I'm pretty!"..like it was a little confindence booster...but then it just got weird and a little creeper since he never talked to me..

Have the guy friend of yours confront him and to tell him to cut it out. That's probably the best thing to do.

I mean I don't see him on a regular basis anymore so it's not a problem...and I thought he was really cute and that's why it has bothered me so much that he never talked to me, even if he was always awkwardly staring at me...lol

A lot of guys are too shy to make conversation but not too shy for some eye contact. However, the turning around at his desk to stare at you is creepy.

I don't mean to be intimidating! I just don't understand why, even if he thought I was out of his league, why wouldn't he at least talk to me and try to be friends?..

Because his ego is probably very fragile. I never try to ask out the hottest girl in the party either. Maybe that's him. I always go for an average to slightly above average looking woman. And if you are one of the top 5 hottest girls in your class or school then maybe a lot of guys will check you out constantly but never really consider you as a potential partner. Maybe you could try dressing down or something if you want to be considered by this guy.

Well I mean I'm in college so there's a bunch of people here...I've seen him once this year walking through campus...I found out that he now has a girlfriend, but he still stared at me. And I'm pretty sure the first time I noticed him staring I was wearing a big t-shirt, running shorts, my hair was up in a ponytail, and I had no makeup on...lol

I thought that too so I got my roommate to watch me as I walked past him a couple times to see if he would stare at every girl or if it was just me...and it was just me...every time. Like he would glance at other girls but full on stare at me and not pay attention to anything else but me...
