What does it mean when your guy friend of 11 years is being nice to you?

We been friends for 11 years back in 2015 he had confessed that he had feelings for me we never really had a serious a conversation about that. Years go by we kind of stopped talking, then last year I had went to go visit one of my female friends and well I thought it was just going to be me and her but she invited him to hangout with us that night I felt a lot of attraction it was intense as well between the two of us flirting and joking around with me. Then we hung out again back in February of this year he had paid for my food and parking spot when we went out the beach with my female friend he was helping me out with my luggage was also helping me with carrying grocery bags where we had snacks, the we hung out again in March he helped me park my car. Then two weeks ago he messaged me I replied back to him but he left me on read.

He also had asked me if I want it to take a picture with him the same day he was was being nice and helping me out a lot he was sitting down and I was going to be standing up next to him so kind of like hugging me and we never hugged before. Why was he doing all of this.

It means he is treating you like someone who rejected him, so even if he is still attracted to you, he will likely stop short of actually acting on it because he believes you already shut down that approach once... even if you didn't do so explicitly.

No. He is probably stuck in an awkward position where he wants you but believe he can't have you, but has no way of communicating that to his subconscious.
Imagine you're on a diet and you know you shouldn't be stuffing your face, but your body is hungry and doesn't understand your intent, and keeps drawing your attention to food. You can stop yourself eating it, but you'll probably find you keep looking at it or moving towards it. It is a bit like that.

Which makes sense why there is so much sexual tension between the both of us and a lot of attraction coming from him. But he doesn’t know how to go about it so now he is playing the nice card role. Or did I miss understood what you said? Because he can ignore me through text but when it comes to person he acts extremely different
