What does it mean when a guy calls you “buddy” but seems to like you?

There’s this guy I know who went to my high school. He’s a little older than me, maybe like by 3-4 years. Ever since I turned 18 he’s been wanting me to go to his house and cuddle with him. I have no interest in this guy at all and I always been blunt and say no but he’s been chasing for 7 years. He calls me “buddy”. He will message me like “hey buddy, let’s hang out and cuddle”. Him and his dad are pretty close with my dad so my dad would tell me “(his name) was asking about you.”

Doesn’t buddy mean friend? I’m so confused by it! He finally stopped talking to me when I told him I moved away (I had to for college) but he might come back later on.

And guys don't call their female friends buddy. That's what they to guy friends but those are other men. This assuming he is straight like 90%of the male population.
