I don't think it's a conversation starter message it seems to be an on the spot he was thinking of you and just wanted to give you a bit of an abstract message.

If I did this to my fiancé my preferred response would be hey stud... most likely I might get an emoji back of a kiss or a heart... If she's feeling like being funny she may say "hey ugly what's the interupion about followed by a laughing emoji so I know she is joking
