He won’t lose me at all. My boss is married. Nothing would happen between us. I’m not attracted to him at all. My best friend was strangely happy that I was annoyed he didn’t bother asking about me and that I was keen on keeping him updated.

People react strangely to certain situations and this is one of them. He fears your boss will take you.

You aren't his girl. If you want someone to care about you like that you need to get a man. If she's a friend, she can tell me all about it when she gets back. You're on a business trip anyways, I would assume you're busy.
