so how can a man joke with you and say "My wife likes to eat a lot of salty food" talking about me because I eat a lot of salty food and he always tells me how it not good for me. Q.1 But why would he joke about me being his wife? Q.2 Why would he joke about being his wife if he didn't want any kind of emotional bond with me?

Is he joking that you are his wife? I read it that he is married and his wife does eat salty food. But then got the hint he is actually referring to you as his wife. Is this in a work environment?

Q1. At the least he thinks he can get away with it and you won't go bonkers. So he feels comfortable with you at least.

Do you boss him; tell him what to do in front of others? I'm thinking so cause then he could say that poking fun at the dynamics between you.

If this is not so and the joke is between you and he only, then calling you wife is establishing some ersatz authority over you as is telling you not to eat salty food.

Q2 Seems to me he has established an emotional bond with you. The question is do you want this? I sort of think you may because you let him get away with calling you wife and because of Q2.

You could bounce husband back at him and even ask if he has made the anniversary restaurant reservations yet.
