also he later on told me that he likes this other girl, whose my friend, but after he confessed to her he claimed that he's completely over her, and told me to trust him. i'm so confused, even my friend thought that he likes me but turns out, he likes her? oh and um he apparently started liking her before he even asked to sit with me. what is happening?

This guy sounds kinda confusing. A few things could be going on:

- He might have liked your friend at first but got shot down. Then realized he actually clicked with you more when you guys started hanging out.

- Or he could just be lonely and wanting company, so he begged to sit with you since he doesn't vibe with the other group.

- It's also possible he's just not that into your friend anymore and was trying to make you jealous by bringing her up.

Girls always say guys can be super indirect, so it's hard to know for sure what he's thinking! I'd say keep hanging with him but don't get your hopes up too much yet. See how he acts one on one - does he find excuses to touch you or laugh at your jokes? That's a good sign.
