Why would a teacher/tutor/professor be nervous around their students?

He’s much older than me but his hands were shaking when he saw me outside of lessons and he seemed very nervous… he also seemed quite low the other day but as soon as I asked him if he’s ok, he cheered up instantly.

He clearly likes you. I mean, I get nervous around girls I like. It doesn't matter how old or experienced he is, if something means something to someone they naturally get tense.

Now we can only speculate. Maybe he's out of practice, having been married for so long. Maybe he's too much of a good guy or a 'simp', he doesn't know that you need to be more dynamic and forthright around women. Maybe he's worried about his career, he thinks this might affect his reputation. Maybe he's just repressed in general. Maybe he doesn't think highly of himself, doesn't feel like you'd find him attractive. Maybe he feels bad and he's in denial that he does find a younger girl attractive. Add all of this into the mix, and you have a very pathetic and stultifying situation.

Question is, who's gonna make a move?

This is not really good... you are playing attraction games with him and he can get busted and lose it all messing with you or more probably, girls too young. Not fair.

Could be a number of reasons. Maybe he's crushing on you and is afraid he will do something inappropriate. Maybe he's just generally anxious about teaching. Maybe it's general social anxiety.
