This guy I've been talking to recently started opening my messages, leaving me on opened for hours and then replying hours later. what does this mean?

Do you have some more context like when he is doing this? Is it while he is at school or working? That would be my first guess. My second is he is a bad texter. Lots of guys are. I don't mean bad as a negative but as in they don't text a lot. Of my guy friends I have only one that gets back to me rather quickly and not quick by my standards. That could also be a possibility. So maybe he is just busy and has time to quickly glance at them but not really appropriate to respond at that time. Not sure unless you have more info.

I’d like to offer a diff opinion. Sometimes I do this to guys to look less desperate. I wait and respond later on purpose!

Could be that he doesn't get sufficient time at work to respond properly, so he defers his response until later.
