Why does he read my messages but reply hours later?

So this mate of mine is a flakey guy but pretty friendly. Whenever I send him a message, if he's not already online, he'll go online and read it straight away. The thing is most times, he reads it then goes offline 5-20 minutes later and replies 3-4 hours later.

I get it if you don't want to reply straight away or you're busy chatting with interesting people but why does he have to read it and let me see that he's read it if he's going to reply hours later. Is that normal?

Basically what she said. If you want more explanation it’s just only left to say that if he’s toying around in the messages than he has no issue doing that if they were to go further between the two of you. A guy that is interested doesn’t have time or any games and if he’s onto games he’ll stop them then and down to make sure you’re not around guessing like what you’re doing right now because he’s leaving you on read. Don’t waste your time because he’s around just to waste your time. What you allow? Is what will continue? Set the record straight about the games you’re not willing to play and let him go.

Nope, do not stoop down to his level because the fact that he doesn’t care enough to acknowledge you through conversation it wouldn’t bother him that you’re doing what he’s doing. Confront him about it and let him reveal himself and if he continues than waste no more time because it’s draining to deal with someone who has no intentions on making you happy. There will be someone out there who will be one message and one call away and will never want you to overthink or go to bed frustrated. I beg you, do not waste your time because I experienced this and I let him go because it was definitely a waste of my time.

He is not that into you. Been there. He is not prioritizing you so he doesn’t feel the need to reply it as soon as he can.

it just bothers me that he actually reads it. I mean if my messages are interesting enough to read straight away but not interesting enough to reply to, then I am just going to stop replying to his messages.

He's not interested in you, he found something or someone more interesting. That's in most cases. Or he's busy but then again no one is that busy so they can't write back *hey I'm busy* but if he was that busy why would he be chillin online doing whatever and instantly, or almost instantly reading your messages. I think he's clearly avoiding you, it's just the matter or why. Seems like you guys need to have a 1 on 1 conversation

Keep in mind it doesn't have to be a confrontation, you can ask out of pure curiosity and I'm pretty sure he'd understand why you're asking
