You like him. That's enough. Be around him , message him, call him. What I mean is be around him for a long time and then leave him stop messaging him. If he will develop a habit of you then he will text you. If he will not then you will suffer heart break but most probably he will like you. I can say either leave him you can get anyone.

It is because I want to know you. I want to know who you are. If we keep dating or just spend time together, that's a good thing because I am into you. I'm into you enough to keep going, but I don't date for short term relationships. I'm looking for somebody to complete me.
I want to figure out if you're that person.

I think I found her already. She hasn't given me a reason yet to doubt her. I didn't officially ask her to be my girlfriend until months later.

That's actually what we did for a while, no expectations and see where it went. We kept reaching out for each other more and more until I was sure that I actually really liked her.

I don't know if it's normal to take a day to reply. I would reply when I can, but life gets busy sometimes. As for the slow pace, it's because I don't want to be in a relationship without knowing who the other person is. Less surprises, more chances to make things work.
Some relationships end as quickly as they started.
