Why is getting married in your 20's considered a failure for men?

You typically haven't had many options for women by that point, or much work experience/wealth to lay a solid foundation for a family.

I got married for the second time when I was in my twenties and it's still going well. Part of that is I went through enough crap to grow up fast when I was a teenager/early twenties, and was able to buy a house not long after getting married to start a family.

If I had been more ignorant I would have had less direction, and less control then, as well as now.

If it's a state-sanctioned "marriage", getting "married" itself is a failure for a man these days. The sooner it happens, the bigger the failure, as there is less time of freedom in the man's life.

you got married before you explored sexually and you are not a girl so you would be praised for getting as much sex possible, you just waste it.

I was married at 25. It just seemed like it was time. I knew that I found the perfect wife. I was not prepared to have my first kid 11 months later. That was the game changer.

Getting married at any age is a failure for a man, but those who get married at such a young age are the most naive.

I was engaged twice in my 20s. The second time to my wife.

The only reason we didn't marry sooner was we're from different countries and we had to get paperwork sorted out for which of us was going to emigrate. The legal requirements ultimately were easier for me to move. Bureaucracy, not age was why I was over 30.

I consider it a failure to have been delayed by two years.

@changingconstance For a man it's typically considered a failure because you got married at your lowest value therefore attracting a woman that would marry a low value man.
