I do care for my friends and family, always... yes

even if it were a stranger, and in the moment... needed some support, I would try to help at least a little bit, and I can care for that stranger and their situation...

three times before, I've at least asked people if they were alright and if they needed some help with anything...

two men and and one guy, different times of course... and they were all going through some bad stuff at the moment, and they did mention a little or a lot about it, I just listened, they did vent out... maybe a hug or two, and then we were all on our way, even if just a little.. they did appreciate it in the moment

so yes... people who support others do so mostly because they care...

Unless we're good friends I will be if I think it'd be improper not to. However, I'll be blunt sometimes too that venting to me is a bad idea, since I am bad at validating.
