I wouldn't want her do something that makes her miserable? I can care for someone a great deal without romantically loving them.
Based on the situation you described, I would rather she went her separate way from me, if for no other reason than that I respect my girlfriend and she probably wouldn't be down with me being friends with a woman who was in love with me.
If “they” do it for you then they will do it to you is a pretty simple axion. There would be no other woman in my life as there is if no reason to feed a girl’s insecurity. Nor would I want to mislead a girl friend.

Girlfriend is always first priority. If a female 'friend' starts trying to manipulate my time and mental energy towards herself then I will break all contact for good, no exceptions. I never have female friends like me that anyway. It's just not worth it.
