We began seeing each other exclusively and we're now officially together. While we were exclusively seeing each other, he was still trying to fuck another girl but he doesn't view it as doing anything wrong since we weren't officially dating. They didn't actually hook up because she turned him down.

It's possible. I had sex with a girl before I became official with my now ex. we had been on 2 dates at the time and had one planned for that night. We weren't exclusive but I knew I wanted to date her and I didn't want to date the other. If we were exclusive I wouldn't of done that. I don't see a real difference between exclusive and being officially together. Exclusive is saying you don't want to see other people let he was trying to have sex with another. She was probably just sex but I would feel betrayed if my girlfriend did that to me.
