What makes a guy block you then unblock you over night?

we got into a huge fight , and he always blocks me after an argument.

This time he waited hours and then did it. I never blocked back like I usually do and I gave him 0 reaction.

I then notice that I was unblocked overnight which isn’t like him. Usually he’d just keep me blocked.

Why is this?

He usually always keeps me blocked for a good amount of time. This time he blocked me hours later then unblocked me in the middle of the night. I never gave a reaction like I usually do which is why I got unblocked I’m guessing. I don’t understand why he’s going back and forth like this?

What could cause him to unblock so fast?

Really just him calming himself and maybe being able to reason it was a stupid thing to do? but when it happens repeatedly is an issue. That's not an appropriate to handle heated arguments. How will that translate in person?

It was a horrible fight. He’s completely ignoring me in person like he always does when he gets mad. And the thing is as I said he’s always just kept me blocked and will block immediately and usually I will return the favor but this time he waited hours to do it then when I checked in the morning I was unblocked which is not his usual pattern and even unblocked on WhatsApp which we blocked each other on a long time ago and never undid it. It seems as if he’s opening every door on purpose? I don’t understand
