At your age they simply haven't had their heart stomped on yet typically. So they think rejection from a girl means something. As they get older it happens over and over again and they eventually accept it's just the price of doing business with a woman. Then he builds up an immunity, a callus if you will to everything a woman says or does. Eventually he gets to a point where he knows what he's willing to accept from a woman. That's when a guy actually becomes ready to date with frequency. And with some guy they develop that as early as their late teens some guys that takes years. Not every guy is the same. It'll probably be like this through most your teens. The simple fact it neither gender typically knows what they want at your age. Or how to articulate it even if they did know or were inclined to.

Guys can be shy for a variety of reasons different stages of their life. If you're talking about guys similar to your age, they're probably trying to find their core group of dude friends so they can be more comfortable in social settings. some maybe introverts for life, others get out of the social awkwardness as they age.

Because we know that you are *much* too good for us, and that we'll be exceedingly fortunate just to have the privilege of kissing your feet.

Some are some are not, everyone is different. Also age and life experience help reduce that shy thing. That I think holds true for both men and women.

I think it's because we get told of by our Parents a lot more than Girls do when we were younger.

  That's true aside that for me I'm not scared of rejection I'm scared of accepting some one into my life I'm ok with being friends with some one but anything beyond that is a strait up NO.

  So true and I'm happy that its that way. I do know some girls who are dating and they're around my age I still question why do people waist there time on such things. Like will dating help you reach your goal or will it only drag you down?
