Guys, Is it mixed signals or does he like me?

I've been good friends with this guy for a while, and since coming back for the Christmas break we've seen each other quite a bit. We've been for drinks alone, his family has even joked if we're together. After drinking one night he proceeded to put his head onto my lap, letting me stroke his hair and cuddled into me. On another occasion we were watching a film, when he put his arm around me, bringing me closer so I could lie partially on his chest. We have kissed before, but only a quick peck this time. I am so confused, why does he show affection but then retract? Help please!!!

Ah man, that does sound confusing for sure. From the sounds of it, I think this dude definitely likes you. Guys don't usually get that physically affectionate with girls they're just friends with, you know?

Putting his head in your lap and cuddling up to you is for sure more than friendly stuff. And the arm around you while watching a movie is super couple-y behavior. It's just the kind of comfort and intimacy you do with someone you're into.

The fact he retracts or pulls back a little after could just be nerves though. Maybe he's unsure how you feel and doesn't want to make things weird if you don't see him that way. Or he got scared of his own feelings in the moment!

My advice would be to have an honest chat with him. Lay it all out like "I really enjoy spending time with you but I'm confused about where this is going." Give him space to open up how he really feels without pressure.

If he admits he's into you too, awesome! You can take it from there. If he plays dumb, call him out softly and say his actions said otherwise. Assure him you still wanna be close no matter what though.

That's not retracting. That's just taking things slow. Nothing wrong with that at all.
