Guys, why would a guy at the gym do this?

I was at the gym today in the cardio section. One of the girls in there started coughing a lot. One of the random guys in there went and bought her a water who she didn’t even know! What’s the point of this, I’ve never had a guy do that for me so wondering why he would do that?

Some guys give a shit about others. Obviously, you've never run across one.
About 15 years ago, we got a lot of snow. I was on my way to work the next morning and slipped on an icy sidewalk and hurt my back landing on it. It was at a busy intersection and I'm SURE well over a dozen people saw me fall on my back!! But, only ONE GUY pulled up in front of me, checked to see if I was alright, let me use his phone to call the hospital 3 blocks away and then split. I sat there for at least 10 or 15 minutes for the ambulance and it never came!! I got up and hobbled to work about 2 blocks away to tell my boss what happened and that I was going over to see my chiropractor.
On my way back to the bus stop, I was bent over and waiting for the light to change so I could cross the street. Just then, some pretty girl came up to the corner. I had no idea who she was, either but, as we were both crossing the street and I didn't want her to slip on the snowy street, I took her hand to help her across the street. On the other side, she thanked me and told me her name was Amber. I never saw her again until a year later when we met again on the same corner and, again, I offered my hand to help her across the street. That's the last I ever saw of her.

Some guys are naturally caring or courteous towards others and that girl just happened to catch that guy in a moment of modern chivalry OR he was attracted to her and her need for help fired up a protective instinct in him, which he acted upon. Girls we are attracted to will always receive better treatment from us because the attraction is a motivator.

That's basic courtesy if a boy was coughing and I saw him I would do the same

Because he´s well educated by his parents. He does that assumingly because he has medical knowledge and knows that it would help in such a situation. I think he does it because it´s his character that he helps people he sees being in need.

Some people care about other people. It's empathy.

As hard as it is to believe that anyone actually has empathy for their fellow human these days, there are those people genuinely out there.
