I think it would depend on the situation and who asked. But then again he is not your boyfriend so I'm not sure if there should be another answer. If a guy quickly corrects someone is either A there is someone they are interested in and they dont want them to think he is taken or B there are girls he wants them to know that he is available. When a girl thinks someone is taken, they will approach them in a more friendly way, and guys dont want that if they are interested.
Probably. That, or they have a girlfriend. But it's also just being truthful. A normal person wouldn't question why someone would correct them when they mistakenly get referred to as someone's partner.
More than likely, or he already has a girlfriend and doesn't want there to be a misunderstanding.
