Do guys mean anything if they send u smileys?

My boss likes to send me smiley faces. It is odd because often guys don't use smiley faces and he is in his early 30s- why do guys use smileys?

I agree that not a lot of guys do that. Some do. Out of all the friends that I have there is only one guy friend that uses emojis. I rarely use them myself. I found most guys don't. So completely understand why you are asking. However some of them do and maybe your boss is just one of those guys that does. Maybe he does with everyone. It is just his way of conveying emotion (happiness in this case) to you. That is how I would take it unless there are other things like him trying to flirt or something. If it were me I would ask a coworker if they get the same treatment (text emojis) as you do.
