Guys, Why is he hinting to me that he’s single?

A guy that approached me at church we’re messaging on Instagram and for some reason in conversation I noticed he mentioned being a single man while explaining his busy day today. I was caught by surprise because we were talking about our work week. I replied “oh really” and he says it’s a tough life.

I didn’t know what to say and responded to his other question.

I’m curious to know why?

He did this because he doesn't know how to naturally get to disclosing such information in a natural way. Perhaps he feels desperate, impatient, lonely, frustrated or all of the above.

He either likes you or it was a crucial detail to what he was talking about and you're leaving that part out

You ask him. We didn't hear the conversation so we can't really answer it with 100% certainly. He can, though.

Guarantee I added all the details. We were discussing our work week and no topics about relationships that’s why I wasn’t able to ask further details to him

He was letting you know in case you decide to show interest like he already has by offering that little bit of information about himself.

Trying to figure out if this guy is interested is like playing a game of chess. I thought we had decent conversation through Instagram messenger and the entire day goes by I would assume he would at least send a ‘good morning’.
