What Girls Said
Guys can't really tell that I am wearing makeup. Or, they see it, recognize it, but consider it very little.
But if they do see me with zero makeup, they will see I look quite different.
No, I wouldn't believe them. Because I absolutely look better with a bit. It's natural and subtle, but it's there.
I've seen this topic play out on TV, though, on dating/marriage reality shows, and some men really do mean it. It caused a huge fight in one case. The woman got mad because he said he prefers her natural. She and her friend went on and on about his it's her body, her choice, her rules, all that. But her makeup was not well done, honestly. It was not subtle, distracting, and quite tacky. So, when men say it to a woman who wears a lot, yes, they mean it.
I would probably know which way he meant it if I knew him well. Some men say it so you don’t look ‘too good’ to other men. Some say it because they prefer a natural look, and some say it because they actually think their partner looks better without. I think I look fresher without, but I don’t wear much anyway. People think I’m in my early 30s when I don’t wear it.
With most guys, nope.
