I have had guys say that to me. once after a group of us swimming they said you can tell what a girl really looks like after swimming all the make up comes off - you don't need it. Was a compliment.

I don't wear makeup, so if he called me beautiful without makeup maybe i'd think he likes me more than a friend, if it wasn't in a really casual way. Many guy-friends applaud me for not wearing makeup, even though I don't see the big deal. But I don't think they wants to be more than friends.
