We were talking and he mentioned something that I didn’t like, and he said “ I could tell by your face and knew beforehand you wouldn’t like it”
I didn’t have any reaction but when he came to me to have that discussion, I made eye contact with my friend and smiled. I didn’t have any facial expression to which would make him think that. I don't know if he is just a very observant guy, he doesn’t really know me that well. We just work together. Why do they say “ I could tell by your face?”

Hmm that is kinda weird that he said he could tell by your face when you didn't feel like you made any expression. A couple possibilities:
- He may just be really observant of subtle cues even if you didn't think you showed anything. Guys are always trying to read what girls are thinking!
- It could have been more about your body language too, even just a slight change that you didn't notice. We don't always see ourselves clearly.
- Or maybe he was just saying that to seem perceptive? Like making a little assumption to try and impress you with how well he thinks he knows you already.
Hard to say for sure since you don't know each other that well working together. I wouldn't read too much into it unless he keeps making weirdly specific claims about what you're feeling inside.
Could just be an innocent comment, or a lame attempt to flirt. As long as the discussion stays respectful I wouldn't worry. But keep an eye out in case he gets creepy analyzing your "facial expressions" too much!
Because he noticed a change in your expression? ... I don't understand why this is confusing you so much.
