What does he mean by this?

I have a close cousin who is a single mom and her child is my godchild. I was telling my male family friend that my godchild is my child and I will take her and take care of her like she is my own child and he first said “you mean our child” then he proceeded to say that “ we will remove your cousin from the equation and we (me and this male friend ) will raise the child all to ourselves and the next time my cousin sees her the child will not remember her mom with the laughing emoji” lol

Yup he said that he’ll remove my cousin from the equation and then him and I will go on raising the child together for ourselves and the mom won’t be able to recognize her

Nope that was when I told him that us three including her mom could take care of the baby and he was then like okay. But I had wanted to raise her while her mom remarried

Now I think about it maybe this was his subtle way of saying that he wanted to build a family with me knowing that my godchild was like a daughter to me but regardless that was a weird way to say it🤷‍♀️
