My male friend will give my mom flowers is that normal?

So I have a friend from Poland, and he will visit Indonesia in June and he said "you can ask me everything so I can bring so many sweets for you and I'll give your mom flowers if you invite me to your house" what does that mean? Why did he say he will give my mom flowers? Is that a culture thing or?

So, basically he is inviting himself to your house since he is putting pressure onto you to invite him to your house. Also, it is not really normal to come up with such a statement. It leads me to believe that he wants to obtain something from her.

This would have been a typical behavior in the 19th. century when a guy wanted the mother to pressure her daughter to date that man. The man gives a present to the mother in order for her to motivate the daughter.

If this guy is just a friend, then it is not normal to invite himself to your house and to give flowers to your mother.

Haha I was wondering also, like in here in Asia male friends don't give their friend's mom flowers, I asked my British friend and he said maybe it's their culture.. yeah he's inviting himself so haha I said why not haha

Some people including me don't like to show at people's houses with empty hands. I always bring something if you invite me to your house. It's a nice gesture and I'm sure you're mom is going to love the flowers.

It is not a common gesture in the Anglo world but if you were invited to a house it wouldn't be that out of court. If he was invited to diner a bottle of wine would be in order but not I guess in Indonesia.

Flowers for the table is a good idea I think to express appreciation.

He actually wanted me to invite him to my house and he wants to give a flower to my mom, so I couldn't say no I don't know maybe bcs I don't want him to think I'm rude or something and he asked what else that he can give to my mom other than flowers and chocolate

Giving flowers to the lady of the house is an old gentlemanly gesture. I've done it myself a few times... when I am invited to someone's house, say for a family dinner.
