How do I know a guy wants to get to know me?

so there's this guy and we never talked. we're just passing by in the school hallway and he sometimes looks at me, it doesn't seem random. I also meet him more than other people. it's happening for more than a year. and I think his behavior tends to change sometimes when he sees me/is close to me. I'm curious whether these signs could mean he might want to be friends or something.

I think that I agree with a few opinions here, it seems the both of you are just shy. NOW, going off that you have two choices, you either ignore him for the rest of your time together in school and he'll likely continue to ignore you, or you break the ice. Truthfully, execution is everything but you don't want overthink, walk up to him and ask something basic like "hey what is the time?" or "what's your name?". Keep it simple and just treat him like any other person you'd ask a simple question too, and see how he responds (observe body language and see how he recipricates). If he is short and uninthusiastic with you, or he just demonstrates a lack of care by not giving you his full attention then that's a bad sign. If he starts conversing with you and has the opposite attitude he might be into you, then you guys can get more comfortable with eachother, and maybe he will initiate conversation with you on another day. The real GOAL when you approach him is to not leave yourself vulnerable by acting nervous or uncomfortable, just keep it natural incase he doesn't want anything to do with you and gets the impression you liked him all a long, this will leave you feeling rejected most likely. At least if he doesn't receive you well you'll know that your true intentions went undetected to him and your peers. You low key need to have confidence to approach a guy or a girl you have a crush on the right way so try to keep that in mind. As a student myself I am in that environment and this is the best way to start a conversation with someone in a way that can teach you how they think of you and allow them to feel more comfortable talking with you in the future. This is the best I can do for you, good luck. If you have any questions I might be able to answer them but I'm no genius when it comes to this stuff I'm just telling you what I do.
