I (25) am dating this guy (29) and we’re at his place and I was answering his question about an operation I had a child. He said he was confused about the placement. So I showed the scar on my stomach and I noticed he was giving intense eye contact on my face like he was trying not to look at my stomach.
why would he do that or is he just being to be respectful?

I think he was trying to be respectful and not just jump into checking out your body. I know for me I definitely not want to get sexual soon and even though you are showing him your scare that is still showing him bare skin and will start some temptation. You didn't do anything wrong of course but I still see it as him trying to show you respect. Also for me at least the face is the best part of a girl physically it's what I'm going to be looking at most in a relationship so I would want to keep my focus there especially during the talking stage.
