There is this one guy at my job he's quiet around me when he is alone. He will say a few words to me maybe if he needs help with something but won't start a conversation. I noticed however around a coworker (he's friends with in real life) he will talk to me and will even be looking over at me from a distance. If I say something to his friend, he will join in on it so i dont think he hates me too much.

Well, often until its established that a girl wants to talk to a guy, for a shyer guy (maybe less confident guy) they will tend to not speak to you. So, try speaking with him one time when he's on his own (and preferably your on your own). See if after he knows your comfy to speak to him directly, if he starts to reciprocate.

If he reciprocates, its highly likely he at least finds you someone he's happy to talk to (which is a great start to figuring out if he likes you). If you chat with him and he never bothers to speak with you, then its likely he's maybe disinterested.

Ugh, that's the worst! It's hard to say for sure without knowing more. Guys can be confusing! Think about how he acts around you. Is he shy or outgoing? Does he put in effort to talk to you or seem disinterested? If you're catching mixed vibes, the best thing to do is be direct! Casually ask him to hang out and see how he responds. That should give you a clearer picture.
