Why would an engaged man go to a party if he wasn't after any girl?

I saw it with my own eyes how he rejected my friend's advances. She gets hit on a lot and has gotten with a couple taken men before. This one, however refused her, left the party and one of his mates drove him home.

He was drunk but still refused her. Even with his slurred speech, he still said ''fuck off, get your own man'' and he pushed her out of the way. If he obviously wasn't going to get any action, why would an engaged man go to a party?
