actually happened to me multiple times today as well.

In this situation, she was sitting in the other side of class, and I couldn't help but notice she kept staring at me, so I looked back, wondering what she was up to. without noticing I stared at her and might have looked angry (I look angry when I don't have anything to smile at).

So it's not that I was angry at her or anything, I just didn't pay attention to my facial expression.
