What does it mean when a guy keep staring at you with a serious face and without smiling; he stares at you and you stare back?

I know this guy for over a year. He is my cousin's friend. I guess he is the type of guy who is a bet shy, though he is popular and he is just gourgous.

Last year we had a class togother. He used to help me when ever i needed his help, but we never had an actual conversation.

This year i couldn't but to notice that he stares at me a lot. Not the normal glare, that when a guy is staring at you then you look at him and he looks away. But the kind when he is really staring; when he is staring at you, and you stare back at him and he keep glaring.

He does that a lot. Every time he does that he seems kinda serious and well i dont know cute.

What does that mean?
