Need reassurance now!! please help guys or girls?

so this guy i had a crush on the whole year, i finally got the courage to give him my number. i’m panicking and having anxiety now because i don’t know if he rejected me or not. he was coming off the bus and i stopped him and said “hey” and gave him the note. he said “what’s this?” and walked off the bus. now im overthinking everything and thinking he probably threw it away or won’t even text. he had a crush on me the whole year as well but just never did anything about it. i also saw him with a girl earlier so im even more scared about that.

please can someone give advice im spiraling right now.

Well, let's think it through: what's the worst thing that could possibly happen?

He looks at it, doesn't realize that it's a phone number because you forgot to put the hyphens in, and goes to a website like "whatisthisnumbersupposedtobe. com", which tells him that it's a secret code used by Rosicrucian assassins to the chamber where they're cloning Hitler. By sheer chance, it is the code to that chamber, and he opens it to find a confused six-year-old boy with a stupid mustache who is NOT, in fact, a genocidal maniac, since genetics don't determine that, but your crush objects to his choice of favorite pokemon, and they get into an argument just as a team of Freemasons arrive to save the planet from schoolboy Hitler and his poor taste in pokemon, but both perish in a hail of bullets, and their killers are praised as heroes, establishing the legal precedent that suspicion equals guilt. Naturally, this gets YOU hauled in as an accessory to arguing about pokemon with clones of Hitler, and since you're already seen as guilty but have absolutely no idea what happened after you gave your crush your number, you can't tell them anything about it, and so they beat you savagely. It just so happens that your spilled blood splatters in the shape of the name of an ancient proto-Sumerian god-king from an empire scourged from humanity's collective memory, and the sunlight falling on his name for the first time in six thousand years raises him from his supposed-to-be-eternal slumber in Antarctica. Rising from the frozen abyss, he commences singing the world to its destruction, and devours all of humanity, letting you live just long enough to see all that you loved perish in agony. We then spend eternity in burning darkness of his gastric juices as our eyes are torn apart by hell-crows. And all because you gave a stranger your phone number!

Now, I think you'll agree that the above scenario is extremely unlikely; a more practical worst-case scenario is that he sees your number, feels that what you did was excessively forward, or simply isn't interested (maybe he's already dating someone else), and mentally moves on.

Is that a good outcome? Well, it's better than the hell-crow thing, but in general, no- but it's not the end of the world. He's a guy, not a god; even if he actively dislikes you for this- not likely in itself, since he'll know it takes guts to put yourself out there- then you'll live.

You went up to the plate and swung, and even if you strike out, you've done more than many people would have the courage to do. Remember THAT part, even if pain follows from what you did; the knowledge that you sought out positive change and TRIED to make it happen will help spur you on in other scary times.

One thing you really have consider beforehand is that no matter what, even if you feel 100% convinced they like you back, there’s always gonna be a chance you’re rejected. Whether it’s because you got the wrong impression or they’re the type to flirt for fun but have no intention of taking things further — it’s always a risk nonetheless, which you have to decide it’s it’s worth taking or not. Please keep this in mind for future reference so you’re better prepared.

In this situation, just because he didn’t have the response you were hoping for is no reason to feel mortified, embarrassed or ashamed. No reason to freak yourself out and panic like this. He’s just a guy you have a crush on, nothing more or less. If he texts you then cool, if not you’ll survive that too. I’m guessing you chose this time to confess because it’s summer, so the upside is that if this did turn out to be a rejection then at least you won’t see him for a few months.
