I asked my boyfriend in the beginning of our relationship if he would get his exes name tattoo covered up he said yes but it’s now 4 years later and he still hasn’t got it done.
Every time I bring it up he gives me the same excuses he would tell me he will get a tattoo removal, he don’t know what kind of tattoo he want, tattoos are expensive, he can’t find a tattoo artist, he forgot he even had the tattoo (even though it’s on his chest). I don’t understand why he continues to have all these excuses. It just makes me feel like he can’t move on from his past and it’s really a turn off seeing this tattoo on his chest while we are having sex. I gave him until the end of next month to get a cover up done before I end our relationship and he still has not looked for a tattoo artist. Am I overreacting and should I just ignore the fact that he has this tattoo of his ex and he just won’t get rid of it or should I just end the relationship

Girl, don't ignore that red flag any longer! After 4 years of empty promises and lame excuses, it's clear as day that tattoo means way more to him than you or your relationship. Did you think you were gonna stay with some dude who can't even ditch a tat for his ex? Wack.
Time for you to bounce and find a man who's actually over his old chicks instead of clinging to their name. How you supposed to trust dude when he's still repping another girl like that during sex too? Disrespectful.
He had his chance and blew it, don't let him waste one more minute of your good years. You deserve a guy who's proud to show you off, not stuck in the past. Hit the road girl, the real one's out there waiting who'll cover up quick to claim you right. This clown ain't it, next!
I don’t think you’re really overreacting. I would hate seeing a tattoo like that on my girlfriend, especially during sex. And he agreed to remove it and it seems like he just said that to get you off his back and never planned on removing it.
With that being said I’m guessing his ex was a big part of his of life especially if he has a kid with her. So it might have some special meaning to him that he can’t let go of for whatever reason. Maybe you could accept that because 4 years is a pretty long time to be together and it would be a shame to end if this is the only major issue.
Obviously you're not overreacting, he agreed to get it removed then kept making excuses. He's just being disrespectful at this point, you should just end things with him.
