Why would a guy stare at me while talking to his friend for like 5-10 minutes straight but never say anything to me?

So there’s this guy at my work who I seem to catch staring at me/glancing at me a lot, but he never comes up to talk to me. When I look back at him, he sometimes suddenly looks away. Today he did the staring thing again but for like 5-10 minutes straight while he was talking to his friend and then again when I moved to go help our coworker with something. Why would he be staring at me and never approach me? Is he maybe too shy or something?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he stares at you for 5 /10 minutes straight yet you look back at him and he turns away. That being the case, how do you know it is straight for 5/10 minutes.. He might only look over at you when he sees your head turning towards his line of vision.

Well the 5-10 minutes straight thing was because I was talking with some kids I’fe known for a while and I could see him out of the corner of my eye. The time is just a guesstimate based off of the conversation I was having with the kids I was talking to (my job is to make them feel welcome and safe and they were sitting by themselves and looking sad). The second time I had moved somewhere where I couldn’t see him and him and his friend came towards me as I was helping my coworker. Both times I was sitting.

The looking away thing is separate from those incidents and is just sometimes.

No it's ok.. It could be infatuation, or it could be he thinks he might know you. He could also be trying to intimidate you into going over and talking to him!

Maybe. I mean we’ve technically known each other for around 3 years so hopefully he knows me but other then that I don’t know🤷🏻‍♀️

Not that I can recall atm
