Older customer at my job?

Much older guy who’s a customer of the store I work at comes in a lot and he says hi to me and have a good day. Why? He’s complimented my outfit before and asked what my holiday was like? I’m confused

There is no need to be confused.

Elderly people have different approaches to today's youngsters. Take his compliments just as compliments and not as attempts to get into your pants. This kind of compliment given by a younger man would imply that he is interested in getting to know you "better" whereas an older gentleman is simply being polite.

It is a matter of good education and that is something that is lost nowadays. The simple fact that you wonder why a person would give you compliments, greet you day in and day out is proof that you have to try to understand why someone would be so nice without having any dubious intentions.

We once lived in a world where men would often compliment a woman he didn't know just because it is a nice thing to do and with no alternative ideas in his mind. Fortunately some of them has survived today's atmosphere where everything seems to be done in a sexual way.

Confusion is a mental health diagnosis, try perplexed. Now, for the guy, how old is he? I am 70 and any overly friendly comments come off as dirty old man. I am just civil and polite.

Because you must make that outfit look pretty good and when everything comes together like that he's going to say something most guys would say something I would hope.
