What does it mean when a guy you've been dating almost a year tells you he can't call you before bed when he's home visiting?

So boyfriend of 9 months tells me he can't call me to say goodnight while he's home visiting. And he takes forever to text me back and never answers my calls or calls me back. Once in a while he'll call me in the morning.

Yo that's kinda weird and suspicious. Usually a guy wants to call his girl as much as possible, especially if he misses her. I can think of a few possibilities why he wouldn't want to call before bed:

- He could be hanging out with other girls and doesn't want you to hear them in the background or know what he's up to late at night.

- Maybe he's sleeping somewhere other than where he said and doesn't want you to find out.

- It could be that he just doesn't feel like talking to you as much when you're not together and is losing interest.

None of those are good signs. I'd be questioning what he's really doing if he doesn't make time for a quick chat. And the slow texting/not answering is shady too. He probably just doesn't want you to know his whereabouts. I'd try calling him out and seeing what he has to say. Might be time to reconsider if you can trust him.

Does he see his family every week? If not, and he has to travel a distance to see them, then not calling the first night because he get's in late and calls the next morning, is not a big deal.

As long as he got there safely and promises to call the next morning is fair. The travel and seeing them for the first time in a few weeks or months should take precedent over the nightly goodnight texts and calls. I am sure he would do the same for you.

But still… he better get his 💩 together and figure out how to stay in touch with you. I crossed an ocean and was still able to keep in touch with my guy via text, though calls were difficult due to the time difference and a coupon of other factors.
