My boyfriend said this after an argument. what does this mean?

The guy I’m seeing and i had a really bad argument we were both going back and fourth for awhile and the next morning i apologized and he said “no need to be sorry i think we both needed that”
What does that supposed to mean

It means bad stuff have been building up to a boiling point for the both of you and that its good that the lips blown off and the pressure has been relaced. And before you ask no he doesn't want to break up because if he did he would not say "we both needed that”

Sounds like you both have been getting on each other's nerves and it was time to get things out in the open. Maybe, he's the type that needs the venting process once in awhile to clear the air of unsaid issues.
