I complained on text to my boyfriend that he only likes to hang out with other guys. I've been with him when he is with his friends, and you can totally tell he is way more interested in pleasing/joking and being around them than me. After I text this he replied "why"

Is he trying to give me a hint. I don't know how to read that one word question. Am I looking too much into it?

Yes, you're looking waaaaay to far into this. Just because he has fun and jokes around with friends does not mean he is gay. That's absurd to be honest. Have you not seen guys and how they act around each other? That is so typical of guy's behavior and completely harmless. Take it from me. I bartend at a popular club where I live. I see groups of guys nightly when I work. What you described is what I see every night. That would mean that every guy I see walk through the door is gay according to your theory. Your boyfriend is just being a guy and nothing more. That is a massive assumption to make based on little to no evidence

I was providing context for why I texted him asking why he prefers to hang with guys instead of me. The main question is why he replied the word "why" to that question. That's baffled me.

That is what I answered. I'm not a mind reader so I have no clue why he chose to reply with that. Surely in your 30s you could just be an adult and ask him. It sounds to me like you have a lack of communication which is never a good sign.

Just hanging out too much with other guys is not necessarily a sign of being gay. Do you have any other reason to be suspicious of him being possibly gay?

He just may be a very social guy with a wide circle of friends and interests. Why would you assume gay right away?

Being around one's friends doesn't mean he's gay. Don't YOU like to be around friends? Or perhaps you define yourself by having a guy and ditch all your friends just because you have a guy in your life... Doesn't mean he also needs to do that... Both need balanced lives...
