They want to scam you is the first thought, very few people on social media have my number, those that have it would not ask online. If someone did ask that, then I would contact the person by mobile and ask if their account had been taken over.
What if its a guy you already know but haven't talked to in a while?
Why did they not text you.
He probably didn't know if my phone number was still the same which is why he asked the question.
People rarely change their number, mainly as it’s a pain updating things like 2FA, updating contact info for bills etc.
No, i only share my phone number to family and boyfriend. If i they have my number, they will directly text me to the phone number instead of text me in the social media. And if they don’t have my number it means they are not importent for me.
I think people on here misconstrued the question. This guy who I used to talk to years back messaged me on social media and he asked if my phone number was still the same since we last talked. I told him yes. Does that imply that I'm giving him the okay to text me or call me?
Seems odd the nomrla thing to do would be test the number first
Of course but it's been a long time so I guess he sent a message on social media beforehand to confirm the number being the same.
Why wpuld the time matter a simple test text would do the job
