Guy's Behavior

so to keep this very simple, my best friends ex boyfriend has requested to follow me on insta. this isn't the first time he's done it. the last time he unfollowed almost five minutes after i accepted and never accepted my follow request in return, so, it wasn't like he was just rying to gain another follower. him and i dont really have any beef, only beef by association (my bestfriend) and im a bit of a shit stirrer. i want to know what he's playing at cause there is always more to the story with him. Before i accept do i send him a dm saying "yo, if i accept that are you gonna unfollow two seconds later again lol?" to show that i noticed and im not getting pushed around. before the best friend gets pulled into this, she's kinda been treating me like dirt recently and im sick of being pushed around by her too. And yes, I did used to like the guy (and i think he liked me) but that was before i became friends with her and i never told her i did after they started dating. i just got over it. but that parts not important. please let me know if i should or shouldn't and why/why not. sick of not being in the know.
