I’m trying to platonically befriend a girl in my class but another guy who very obviously has a crush on her keeps trying to interrupt?

It’s getting really annoying, we all sit at the same table and every time I try to talk to her he tries to join the conversation. If I try to tell her stuff about myself it’s like he’ll always try to find some way to butt in and change the subject? I literally just want to her friends with this girl because I think she’s cool, I have absolutely zero interest in her romantically, but I’m 90% sure this guy is getting jealous and trying to stop me from talking to her. We were sitting next to each other at lunch, and I gave her one seat of space between us because I didn’t wanna invade her personal space. Other Guy is sitting at the opposite end of the table, mid conversation he comes and plonks himself right between us without asking because quote “his seat was uncomfortable”. He then starts trying to talk to this girl, completely ignoring the fact that I was in the middle of a conversation with her. Like c’mon dude

Damn dude, that guy is seriously cockblocking hardcore! I'd be pissed too if some dude kept cutting in like that when I'm just tryna have a normal convo.

He's definitely jealous you're getting her attention, even though we all know you just wanna be platonic study buddies or whatever. Some guys just can't handle any other dudes talking to a girl they like. Pathetic.

My advice - call him out subtly next time. If he interrupts again, just be like "hey man we were in the middle of something, mind giving us a minute?" Assert yourself without being a dick about it.

You could also try pulling the girl aside privately later and give her a heads up that you're not tryna make moves, just wanna be friends. Get on the same page so she knows his behavior isn't cause of you.

Or complain to the teacher that he's disrupting class 😂 Nah but really dude just stay confident and don't let this clown chase you off. You gotta right to be friends with whoever you want!

Also, there is no such thing as having a platonic relationship between genders. Sooner or later, feelings will jeopardize that platonic relationship.

What will you do the day you find out that you have developed feelings for that girl?

Will you stop seeing her? Will you break that platonic relationship or will you hope that your feelings get reciprocated?
