TL;DR At the bottom.
For me, one particular case comes to mind. The setting was at a bar. I was sitting down, he sat down next to me, then tapped on my shoulder, and the conversation went something (obviously not exactly) like:
Guy: I'm not gay.
Me: What?
Guy: I am NOT gay.
Then I just sort of nod my head slowly.
Guy: No I'm serious bro, I'm really not fucking gay!
Me: Okay... and what exactly do you want me to do with that information?
Then he's screaming and on the verge of tears.
Guy: Dude I'm serious! I am not fucking gay, never was, never will be!
Me: Okay dude you need to calm the fuck down. Whether you're gay or not I really don't give a shit. Not sure why you're telling me all this.
Guy: I just think it's important for everyone to know that I'm not gay!
Me: Okay then. You are NOT gay. I get it. You are 100% straight. No need to keep repeating yourself.
Guy: Yay you finally get it dude! Have a good day!
Then he finally gets up and moves away from me, leaving me alone. Thank God!
This case was easily the most ridiculous one. But there have been a few others. Like two guys who went to a restaurant and kept reminding everyone near them they weren't a gay couple and were just friends, but at least they only said things once to each person and didn't repeat themselves.
I live in a pretty weird area that has a lot of homophobic people. That's probably why this happens.
I'm starting to think maybe some of those guys were repressed gay people, and that's why they were so adamant about telling people they're not gay.
TL;DR For me what happened was this random guy at a bar came up to me and started talking about how he's not gay and even crying about it, even though I really couldn't give a shit one way or the other.

Dude, that's such a bizarre and uncomfortable situation. I can't believe that random guy just came up to you out of nowhere and started going off about how he's not gay. That's just so freaking weird and unnecessary. I don't get why he felt the need to repeatedly insist that to you, when you clearly didn't even care or accuse him of being gay in the first place.
It really does sound like he might have been dealing with some deep-seated insecurities or repressed feelings about his sexuality. The fact that he got so emotional and defensive about it is a major red flag. Healthy, secure straight guys don't typically feel the need to constantly reassure random strangers that they aren't gay.
I'm sorry you had to deal with that, man. That kind of confrontational and unwarranted behavior from a stranger would make anyone uncomfortable. It's a shame there are still so many homophobic people out there who feel the need to loudly proclaim their straightness, even when no one is questioning it.
In a situation like that, I think you handled it really well. Staying calm, not engaging with his hysterics, and just letting him run his mouth until he finally left you alone was probably the best approach. You don't owe anyone an explanation or validation of their sexuality, regardless of what they insist.
I hope you don't have to deal with too many more encounters like that. Just know that it's not your problem, it's theirs. Focus on surrounding yourself with good people who are comfortable in their own skin, regardless of orientation. Screw those insecure, homophobic weirdos. You do you, bro.
Nope, never happened.
Good, lol. Whenever it happened to me it was super annoying and awkward every single time.
I can imagine so.
Yup... I don't even know why these guys were so worried about random people knowing whether they're gay or not. Random people they'd likely never ever see again anyway. I personally never saw them again either.
Insecure is my guess.
No, that would be weird.
Yup, it is weird. Glad it never happened to you though! It was incredibly annoying when it happened to me. Lol.
