Why would a guy give you a gift which you feel was meant for someone else?

So been on a few dates with this guy. We’re attracted to each other. However we have had a few arguments it’s like a love hate relationship sometimes. Last time we met he was being quite off and was tired from his week he says.

However he was quite obviously rude at times. Near the end of the day he went into his house & said I got something for you and gave me a gift set with bath stuff in it.

However i really feel it was for someone else as it was so random. Was he possibly giving it to sort out being rude for the day?

Which “you feel” for someone else….
There can be many possible cases
1. He genuinely felt bad for his behaviour and bought something… in such case we generally try to bring something we think u would like i am not sure bath stuff counts (unless u r into that)
2. He might have got it from somewhere like a reward or someone gave it to him which was lying around and he might have thought it would be more useful to u.
3. He might have brought it for someone else like you said and for some reason he couldn’t give it to them and thought u might make use of it.

If you think he is rude tell him that he might understand if not u’ll know how he is

I agree it could be any of those statements you have just mentioned.

The only thing that doubted and confused me was that the bag was quite screwed up. It had looked like it was lying in his room under his bed or something.

Also one of the bath bombs have leaked a bit. Just looked like it wasn’t bought new. And we haven’t known each other long.

The reason is because the bag was quite messed up like it looked like it had been under his bed or something for a while. Or lying in his room. I’m being honest.

Well you didn't say anything about that in your post.
Go ahead and accuse him of giving you a gift meant for someone else. I bet that will go well.
Use facts not assumptions.

Yeah I just realised I hadn’t included that my bad. Was the main reason why I and felt it. I can’t even edit the post now 🤦🏽‍♀️ . I will keep more open minded about it
