So, I’ve been talking to a guy I met for several weeks now. About 2 months after talking consistently, I discovered he had a girlfriend. He ended up breaking up with her, and I wasn’t sure where we stood after that. But then last week on Valentine’s Day, he unexpectedly gave me a gift in person. He then disappeared and went no contact for nearly a week (he also travels for work), and we still don’t have each other on social media after the entire ‘girlfriend’ situation. He reached out to me recently for help with something. Is it appropriate to ask why he gave me a Valentine’s Day gift and then disappeared, explaining that it just confused me a bit?

Ugh yeah that's a super weird situation. I don't blame you for being confused after getting a gift from him on Valentine's Day, especially since you guys don't seem to be official or anything. I think it would be okay to politely ask him about it just so you can get some clarity on where you two stand.
I'd maybe say something like "Hey, I just wanted to thank you again for the gift but I have to admit it did kind of confuse me since we're not actually together. Could you help me understand where you were coming from with that?" Keep it casual but let him know it raised some questions for you.
His response should give you a better idea of what he really wants. If he apologizes or seems embarrassed, maybe he wasn't thinking it through. But if he gets defensive or avoids explaining, that's kinda shady vibes. Either way, now that some time has passed, you deserve to get some direct communication from him about his intentions so you're not left guessing, you know? Hopefully the talk will help clear the air. But be prepared - there's a chance he might not have a good reason for what he did. Ugh, good luck dealing with that one!
He sounds narcissistic. Discarded his girlfriend to go love bomb another woman that he then discarded. Take the Valentine’s Day gift and run
He won't give any kind of answer you want. Guys about stuff like that. If you asked that I'd probably laugh at you.
