This friend of mine said that to me on Valentine's day, and I was kinda surprised. We've been texting a lot, and like each other but we're long distance. I wasn't expecting him to take note of the fact it was Valentine's because we're not dating, and haven't really talked about dating, other than we'd like to try and see each other during break. To be clear: the guy saying this has also said he likes you.
So if a guy tells "Happy Valentine's Day" to a girl, does that mean he thinks you two are kind of together?

Hell no , I have guy friends that are married & single that tell me Happy Valentines Day , it’s just a day to appreciate the ones you love ( even though you should 365 24/7 ) . I know for a fact none of them mean it in a romantic way because they know I’m engaged. But if he sends you a long cute text & y’all have been talking for a while and he asks if you will be his valentine then it’s a different story ( since y’all are long distance ) or sends you something that asks a wuestion after the tag line Happy Valentine’s Day. But if he just says Happy Valentine’s Day don’t look tooo into it Bc he may just be polite.

Nah, its normal here in UK and back in the US. Valentines isn't just to celebrate love and romantic couples-its to show appreciation as a friend/boyfriend/girlfriend of the opposite sex to show love. I gave valentines cards and chocolates to some professors and law classmates at university. Happy belated valentines to you!

It's possible that could be a hint that he thinks of you as a couple. He said that that means he likes you and considers you a special person in his life. No. So many women are obsessed with Valentine’s Day. I once dated a girl where we made plans to hang out the day after Valentine’s Day because we both were extremely busy on Valentine’s Day.

She called me on Valentine’s Day anyway sobbing asking me to come over. I did it without question despite it being an inconvenience. She told me she knew it was completely rationale that we made plans to hang out the day after and yet she found herself extremely sad.

Valentine’s Day should be renamed to “comfort my insecurities about be into lonely” day.

That MIGHT be what it means of he is a particularly shy guy, but. . . I will wish Happy Valentine's Day to all of the women in my office, and there is only one there who I would consider dating (and that will never happen.)

Nope... I say that to a lot of people during Valentines day. You two are only together if one of you actually say it to the other person that you are together. .. He might not be actually thinking of you as a couple, but he could be fantasizing about it, especially if he has already told you he likes you. Unless you enjoy the suspense of it all, it might be best to lay everything out on the table and let him know whether you like him in that way or not. If you do, then see if he is willing to step up to the plate and ask you on a date. Otherwise, if you care about the guy and know it will never go beyond friendship, you should let him know.
